The Modern Family Show in London

The Modern Family Show 2022 was hosted in London for the second year running at the start of Autumn on 10 September 2022 and although it took place a mere two days after Her Majesty the Queen had sadly passed away, it was a huge success.

The Modern Family Show designed by TwoDadsUK is the only LGBTQ-friendly family creation event of its kind in the UK and this year, for the first time, the show is also running in San Francisco, USA on 29 October 2022 and in Sydney, Australia on 29 April 2023.

The founders, Michael and Wes Johnson-Ellis, known as TwoDadsUK, Dads via UK Surrogacy, and the wider team are all passionate about raising awareness and driving change. And that’s exactly what attracted us to them, right from the start – their core values of trust, integrity, equality, and honesty are 100% in line with our own values.

The great thing about the show is that it provides people with resources, expert advice, support, and a safe space to talk in private as part of their open surgery service. They basically support the most exciting journey of people’s lives by ensuring they’re better informed whilst being treated with the respect they deserve.

They’ve designed The Modern Family Show to not only look and feel different but to deliver an event that will help people get the necessary information to understand the options available to them, ahead of their family-building journey.

It’s a show like no other, designed to safely guide and support the LGBTQ+ community to educate them about all aspects of Surrogacy, IVF, IUI, Adoption, Fostering, Co-Parenting, Fertility Assessments, Fertility Preservation, Solo Parenting, Egg Donation and Sperm Donation.

Not only are the attendees treated like VIPs, but the exhibitors, speakers, helpers, and advocates are all treated so kindly that you truly feel part of a circle of friends. From the welcome drinks to the exhibitor lounge with breakfast, lunch, and drinks on tap and happy hour at the end of the day, you’re pretty much carried on a silver platter throughout the day in true Mike and Wes style.

In addition to our Herts & Essex Fertility Stand in the exhibition hall, our Head of Surrogacy, Sarah Templeman delivered a presentation on The Surrogacy Journey, she was a panelist on a panel discussion titled UK Surrogacy for Beginners, and Debbie Evans, our Director of Clinical Services, also participated in a panel on How to Select the Right Clinic.

It’s an event designed for everyone. Inclusivity is key so everyone is welcome. A show that educates in a dedicated space with professionals, community members, and allies. Their exclusive and impressive Main Stage delivered informal educational sessions from some of the leading experts in the fertility industry and a few familiar faces from the LGBTQ+ community.

The Modern Family Show has assembled a collection of social media parenting influencers (their advocates) to act as the voice for their chosen family group and wider parenting community as part of the #AskMe program. Their advocates are all parents or parents to be, and whether that’s as a result of Fostering, Adoption, Trans-Parents, Co-parenting, Surrogacy, or Sperm/Egg donation, they were there to answer questions, engage with the audience and give advice from their own lived experiences. What a brilliant initiative.

As the UK Fertility Clinic Sponsor for the second year running, we had such a good time at this event and with so many good conversations with people at different stages of their family-building journey, we have signed up for a third consecutive year and look forward to seeing more expecting parents at The Modern Family Show in London on Saturday 23 September 2023.
