Maris has started her scientific journey in the field of embryology in 2012 on her internship during her degree in Biomedical Science. In 2013, she pursued postgraduate studies in assisted reproductive medicine and began her professional training at a large private hospital in Brazil. During her career, she had the privilege of co-authoring the “Embryology Guide” for the Brazilian Assisted Reproduction Association, contributing a chapter on Time Lapse. She dedicated time to lecture in a medical assisted reproductive specialisation, sharing with consultants the laboratory knowledge to enhance their treatment management on fertility advice.
Her commitment to continuous learning led her to further enhance her expertise with a postgraduate qualification in Health Management from Porto Business School. She’s also registered with Health and Care Professions Council, reflecting her dedication to maintaining high professional standards. She has gained international exposure, working in Portugal, Brazil, and the UK, and has developed a strong understanding of the regulations and guidelines in each country.
In 2024, she had the pleasure of joining the team of experts at Herts & Essex Fertility Centre, where she’s been dedicating time to support embryo biopsy training for new practitioners, and actively contributing to the high standards of the centre working in patients’ best interest and caring approach.
