Twins for one of our Fertility Nurses
To my wonderful HEFC family,
We would like to write a few words of thanks to you all for making our family complete.
Our journey started 10 years ago when we were told I could not conceive children naturally and our only option was IVF. This was a devastating blow when all you want is to have children. We knew how hard this journey could be and also the financial implications it could have on us.
However, we started on the road to begin a family with the help of the GP, local hospital, and finally to Herts & Essex Fertility Centre where we began our IVF treatment.
As we walked through the doors of the clinic we could feel the positivity immediately. The staff was kind and caring and made us feel that our journey mattered (we were not just another number). All staff made a difficult journey easier and in 2013 we gave birth to our first daughter Grace. In 2015 after another IVF cycle we gave birth to our daughter Edel. We were blessed with two wonderful daughters.
However, we knew our journey was not quite finished yet. In 2019 we attempted some frozen cycles with embryos from previous cycles. Miracle on top of miracles we were given the precious gift of twins born on the 1st of July 2020 in the middle of lockdown with a world pandemic called coronavirus. Rory and Imelda are the gifts of completing our family.
We cannot put into words how truly thankful we are to the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre family who helped us to get to this very privileged place of having a complete family.
In a turn of events along the way, I have ended up as a staff member at Herts & Essex Fertility Centre, working as a recovery nurse and have seen the spectrum of the Fertility journey making our journey even more special and a true gift. It has been wonderful to be a part of the team and provide the same passion, positivity, and care to other patients who are on their fertility journey and hopefully making it somewhat easier.
Lots of love and thanks,
Louise Liam Grace Edel Rory and Imelda O’Sullivan.
