Our remarkable leader and CEO, Mr. Michael Ah-Moye turns 70

Michael, the most caring, gentle, and kind doctor you’ll ever meet is responsible for creating 1000’s of babies in his 37-year career.

He started his fertility career back in 1984 where he helped set up the Oxford Fertility Clinic, a year later he joined one of the pioneers in IVF – Professor Ian Craft. Michael learned from one of the best who challenged fertility practice in all aspects of what they did. It was while working with Ian that Michael met Andy Glew, a young ambitious scientist and together they forged a dream of opening their own clinic.

Micheal Turns 70

On 13th July 1989, Essex Fertility Centre opened its doors at the Holly House in Essex – and so the dream began. Michael spent the early years building a reputation of a successful and caring clinic that still stands strong today after the relocation to Herts & Essex Fertility Centre in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire in 2007.

Michael’s knowledge is outstanding – he constantly aims to improve and give the very best to his patients and encourages all of us who work alongside him to do the same, to learn and to challenge.

Michael has supervised and trained many young doctors imparting his knowledge in a quiet and efficient way ensuring his legacy and his success continues into the next generation of fertility.

Michael likes to be at the center of the clinic amongst the staff, whether it is for an impromptu pizza on a Friday or a team-building activity performing the Hakka. Oh and he loves nothing more than donning his Santa Hat at the Christmas party. 

Michael’s patients are at the forefront of everything he does – if we ever get complaints at the clinic it is because patients had to wait to see him but once they’ve seen him they are in awe of his compassion and sensitivity.

Behind every great man, there always is a great woman and Michael is no different – Shirley is his rock supporting him throughout his career and many times assisting him when he needed help in theatre. Their daughters, Sarah and Amy have done them both proud in also choosing medicine as careers and Michael is proud to say that there are four doctor Ah-Moyes in the family. His empire may be small but he is proud of the clinic, his staff, and every single baby he has helped to create.

Michael ensures a high standard of good clinical practice under his leadership and is not just about science, but also about love.

Thank you Michael for being such a wonderful man and for inspiring us all to be great!
