Many patients worry about the unpredictable cost of IVF. Some people may get pregnant the first time but costs can quickly mount up if treatment is not successful right away. IVF Refund Programme
The Access Fertility IVF Refund Programme offers you multiple IVF cycles for a fixed price, significant savings and a 100% refund if you don’t have a baby.
With the UK average success rate for Live Birth per cycle initiated at 23% across all age groups (source HFEA), it is likely that most patients will need multiple IVF cycles in order to have a baby. Our aim is to give you peace of mind that you have a plan in place to help you achieve your dream.
We help patients to take the uncertainty out of IVF. Our refund programmes offer a package of treatment (2 or 3 fresh cycles of IVF and unlimited frozen embryo transfers) as well as a broad range of inclusions, all for a fixed fee. This can help reduce the stress of treatment and give you the reassurance you have a plan in place.

ACCEPTANCE RATE
We have programme options for all patients aged under 40 years old (our IVF Donor Refund Programme is available to patients under 49). The acceptance rate for the Access Fertility IVF Refund Programme is 90%. We do not ask you to undertake any unnecessary or costly additional testing for any of our programmes. We offer four different refund programmes:

IVF Multi-Cycle Programme
Access Fertility offers multiple IVF cycles for a fixed price, allowing you to financially plan for this special journey you are about to embark on. The acceptance rate for the Access Fertility IVF Multi-Cycle Programme is 100% (there is no medical review), and we have options for all patients aged under 45 years old (the age limit for IVF).
What does the IVF Multi-Cycle Programme include?
The original IVF Multi-Cycle Programme that they offer is available to anyone under the age of 45, and you can undergo two fresh cycles of IVF with unlimited frozen embryo transfers. With this programme, you receive a significant upfront saving compared to standard IVF costs. We want to make your IVF journey as stress-free as possible, which is why this offers you a chance to fix the cost of your fertility treatment.
The Multi-Cycle programme does not include a refund if you complete your treatment and unfortunately do not have a baby. To benefit from a refund of up to 100% of the cost of your treatment if you don’t have a baby, you may be interested in the IVF Refund Programme, or the Donor Egg IVF Refund Programme.

Egg sharing scheme for funded IVF treatment
There are various reasons why some women need treatment with donor eggs. It may be a result of age seriously affecting their egg quality, an early menopause, treatment with chemotherapy and/or radiotherapy permanently damaging their ovaries, or simply that some women are born without ovaries.
You may have already considered the despair of women who cannot produce their own eggs, so cannot start their own family.
Perhaps you would like the chance to help a woman who is unable to produce her own eggs and in return be compensated with funded IVF treatment.
If you have answered yes to either of these questions, then you may be interested to know that we run an egg share programme that rewards an egg sharer with funded IVF.
What is egg share for funded IVF?
Egg sharing anonymously brings together women who need IVF treatment for different reasons. One woman will potentially have the ability to make plenty of eggs during her own IVF treatment while the other is waiting for the precious gift of donated eggs to fulfil her dream of a baby.
It gives women, who generously wish to donate eggs, the opportunity to help another woman and in return helps towards funding her much-needed IVF treatment.
With our egg share programme, the donors’ funded standard IVF treatment includes saline infusion sonogram (SIS), endometrial scratch, male and female screening tests, and fertility drugs.
Can anyone become an egg share donor?
Unfortunately not. Egg sharers are donating eggs to another woman and there are strict criteria in place in order to become an egg donor. We will need to assess your potential to produce enough eggs for two women’s treatment, and your overall health and genetic makeup. This is so that we are not knowingly passing any inheritable illness on to any child born as a result of the donation.

The most important factor to consider when looking at egg quality is your age. The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) stipulate that an egg donor:
- needs to be between the ages of 18 and 35 to donate their eggs to someone else’s treatment
- is fit and healthy within normal limits of weight and height, with a BMI of under 30
- hasn’t got a family history of inherited diseases, genetic disorders or any serious mental health issues
At Herts & Essex Fertility Centre we accept egg donors that satisfy all of the above criteria and have a BMI between 19 and 32.
We will ask you to complete questionnaires answering questions about your fertility and your health before we can consider you suitable to become an egg share donor. It is important that your family doctor has also signed the health questionnaire as verification. Once we have these questionnaires, if you are suitable, we will book for you to come for an appointment with one of our fertility consultants. Before you are finally accepted as an egg share donor you will have blood tests and investigations to confirm your suitability.
Counselling
Egg sharing is a big decision; egg donors and any partner must understand the implications, both short and long-term, of becoming a donor, therefore mandatory fertility counselling must be undertaken before you can become an egg donor. Counselling sessions are held with an independent counsellor and are available to all of our patients. Sessions are provided free of charge and can be taken before, during or after any treatment.

Sperm sharing scheme
Since the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA) removed donor anonymity in 2005 to allow children born from donated sperm or eggs to trace their biological parents, there has been a significant drop in the number of egg and sperm donors.
We have overcome the shortage of donated eggs in the UK through the introduction of our Egg Sharing programme, but the supply of donor sperm in the UK has been so significantly affected that most of our clients find that they are either unsuccessful in acquiring donor sperm, have a very limited choice or have to import donor sperm from abroad.
To make donor sperm more readily available to our infertile couples, single women and gay couples, we introduced a Sperm Sharing programme, which works in the same way as our very successful Egg Sharing programme. A healthy male with normal sperm parameters can donate samples to help others requiring donor sperm to create their own families, and in return receive fertility treatment at no cost for his partner in return. This excludes the HFEA fee, any embryo freezing, or ICSI procedure.
Am I eligible to use the sperm sharing scheme?
We are very happy to discuss the possibility of sperm sharing with men between the ages of 18 and 41 whose sperm parameters are normal. If you are interested in the scheme you will need to discuss it with one of our Fertility Consultants and complete a sperm donor health questionnaire. If you have already had your sperm analysis done, we may be able to advise you immediately whether you are eligible.

Why do I need counselling?
We insist that anyone who volunteers to take part in our Sperm Sharing programme sees our independent counsellor, who will discuss with you and your partner all the implications you need to consider before donating your sperm. These sessions are free of charge. The counselling is particularly important because of the HFEA’s ruling since 2005, that all donors of either sperm or eggs be identifiable and contactable by any children born as a result of their donation if they so wish once they have turned 18.
Screening tests
As a patient, you may already have or are scheduled to have screening tests for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C. To be a sperm sharer you are required to have a number of additional screening tests so we can be sure our recipients will be safe.
On providing your last semen sample for donation your sperm will be placed in quarantine for 30 days. After this time you will need to retake some of the screening tests. This is because although your first tests were negative, you may have acquired an infection which had not yet shown up in the screening tests as with HIV. Leaving the samples for 30 days and rescreening allows us to confirm that you are indeed free from any infection. If all your tests are negative then your sperm will be made available for our patients to choose from and begin their treatment journeys.
How many sperm samples do I need to provide?
You will need to provide us with a sperm sample for assessment and, if you meet the criteria to become a sperm sharer, you will then be asked to produce approximately 10 samples over a 12 week period. Samples must have been banked before your own treatment cycle with your partner is completed. At your first appointment, you will complete and sign some consent forms as part of the registration process to our regulatory body, the HFEA.
Sperm donation does require a commitment from you to attend the clinic for a number of visits, so you must consider carefully whether this is definitely something you want to do, as well as how convenient it is for you to make the necessary visits.
All sperm samples must be banked and released from the 30-day quarantine before you start your own treatment cycle with your partner.
Can I restrict how my sperm is used?
UK law sets a legal maximum of ten families who can benefit from your sperm donation, but you can restrict that number further if you wish. You can withdraw your consent at any time if you change your mind, but it’s important to note that if you do, you are liable for all screening costs incurred during your donation and the cost of your own family’s treatment cycle, including the cost of drugs.
Who will have information about my donation?
Our staff are bound by confidentially in all matters of fertility treatments at the Centre. Information of your donation will be held by the HFEA. You will be recorded as a sperm donor on the HFEA’s register and any patient using your sperm will have their treatment and any resulting outcome recorded as well.

When can we begin our own fertility treatment?
You will be able to begin your fertility treatment when the 30 day quarantine period is complete and your donations, usually 10, have been released for use. If you wish to commence treatment immediately, you can do so by paying for your treatment. The cost of your treatment will be refunded to you once your quarantine is complete and your rescreening test results are normal.
