The Herts & Essex Fertility Centre has two fantastic career opportunities for an experienced Laboratory Manager and a Senior Embryologist to join our highly respected laboratory team.

Our spacious laboratory is located in a purpose-built, state-of-the-art fertility clinic and is equipped with an electronic witnessing system. The successful candidates will benefit from working alongside a highly talented, and well-respected, medical and scientific team. The clinic offers a comprehensive range of fertility treatment options which include a very successful egg sharing, egg donation and surrogacy programme, and an internal donor sperm bank.

Applicants for both roles must be highly motivated and have excellent attention to detail in both clinical and non-clinical work, with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.  A good working knowledge of the HFEA code of practice and previous experience in an HFEA registered centre is essential.

 

Laboratory Manager

The primary role of the laboratory manager will be the daily management of the laboratory and its team to ensure that a safe and effective clinical service of the highest standard is provided.  Management of the embryology team will include the supervision and mentoring of trainee embryologists.

The role:

  • works closely with the Medical Director and Director of Clinical Services.
  • is responsible for the overall embryology service and laboratory team management.
  • is both clinical and managerial.
  • ensures regulatory requirements and quality standards are met, excellent clinical results are achieved and a high standard of patient care is delivered.

The candidate:

  • BSc in Life Sciences
  • HCPC registration
  • ICSI practitioner
  • Management experience

Salary will be dependent on experience.  This is a full-time position and weekend rota participation will be required.

Senior Embryologist – ICSI trained

The candidate for this role will be trained and proficient in all aspects of andrology and embryology. ICSI practitioner status is essential and experience in performing vitrification is desirable. Patient contact is vital and the applicant will be able to communicate articulately with patients and staff alike.

Applicants must be highly motivated and have excellent attention to detail in both clinical and non-clinical work, with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed laboratory records.  A good working knowledge of the HFEA code of practice and previous experience in an HFEA registered centre is essential.

The position requires that you are registered, or be in the process of registering, with the HCPC.  Please be aware that this is not a training post and candidates must have completed their embryology training via the ACE certificate or STP scheme.

Full-time and part-time applicants will be considered equally and the position will include weekend participation on a rota basis. Salary will be dependent on experience.

Registered General Nurse  

Herts & Essex Fertility Centre is seeking a part-time, experienced Registered Nurse to join our friendly theatre team in our busy theatre and recovery suite.

Applicants should be enthusiastic and highly motivated with excellent standards of nursing care. Good organisational, interpersonal and communication skills are essential.

The facility comprises of a four-bed day unit providing high-quality care for our fertility and gynaecology patients.

To be considered for the role, you will require the following:

  • Anaesthetic and recovery experience
  • ILS
  • Certification in IV therapy

Daily tasks will include, phlebotomy, pre- and post-operative assessments, assisting in theatre and recovery during egg collection and embryo transfer procedures and other fertility or gynaecological procedures.

Competitive rates of pay depending on experience.
