Director of Clinical Services/Registered Manager to CQC/Centre Manager

Debbie qualified as an RGN in 1985. She has specialised for 18 years in fertility management and has been with the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre since 2007. As Director of Clinical Services, Debbie takes ownership of the day-to-day clinical management of the Centre, with direct responsibility for 30 members of staff. Her senior role has not changed her approach or her work ethos: she is as passionate about patient care as when she first joined the nursing profession.

She is the current Chair of SING (Senior Infertility Nurse Group) an organisation that strives to support nurses in the fertility industry by providing peer support, guidance and encouragement to its members. SING also promotes education and training for all fertility nurses and are proactively involved in shaping the future of fertility treatment through stakeholders input with relevant authorities and organisations.

Nurse Manager/Egg Donation Coordinator/Surrogacy Coordinator

Sarah brings over twenty years’ of nursing experience to our team. Fully trained in Fertility Management, she was instrumental in setting up our Egg Sharing and Surrogacy Programmes. She helps with the day-to-day management of the clinic, conducts ultrasound scans, and ensures the smooth running of the Surrogacy and Egg Donation Programmes with Sarah Robinson. Sarah has been a member of the Herts &Essex Fertility Centre nursing team since 2005, but she has worked closely with us as a Ward Link nurse since 2003 when we were based at the Essex Fertility Centre at Holly House Hospital, in Buckhurst Hill.

Sarah trained at the Royal London Hospital and the National Heart Hospital and has accumulated over thirty years of experience in High Dependency and Critical Care nursing. She has proved herself to be an excellent Fertility Nurse since she joined our Theatre and Recovery team in 2009, providing the highest standards of care for our patients after Egg Collection, Embryo Transfers and other operational procedures. Sarah is qualified in Advance Life Support and is an assessor in the training of Health Care Assistants.

Fertility Nurse Coordinator

Soriah joined Herts & Essex in January 2012. She has a Diploma in Women’s Health and 16 years’ experience in this field. She is responsible for a variety of duties. As a Fertility Nurse Coordinator, she will discuss and help plan your treatment, carry out pre-assessments and answer any queries. She assists the doctors with Saline Infusion Sonography (SIS) and Pipelle procedures, and other operations in theatre.

Gerian qualified in 1988 as a Registered General Nurse at Morriston Hospital in Swansea. We have known Gerian since 1991 when she joined the nursing staff at Holly House Hospital and we were delighted when she became a member of our team in 2004. In 2007 she relocated with us to our brand new premises in Cheshunt. She works in all clinical spheres of the unit: so it is highly likely that you will meet her at your very first appointment, in theatre and in recovery following egg collection and embryo transfer.

In the spring of 2014 we welcomed Sarah, a qualified Registered General Nurse since 1993, she had further specialised in Fertility Nursing since 2006. Sarah has broad fertility experience and knowledge which was gained in the role of Fertility Sister, in a nurse-led private clinic. With a keen interest in all donation programmes, Sarah is passionate about all aspects of Fertility Nursing, adopting a caring and sensitive approach.

Lori has been with us since autumn 2009 and has been a registered nurse for the past thirty years. She started her nursing career as a GP practice nurse, then moving to join University College London Hospitals as a Day Unit Sister in the oral maxillofacial unit, where she completed her anaesthetic training. Lori then became a Fertility Sister with the IVF unit at the Hammersmith Hospital in 1997, performing and running the IUI programme. Lori has worked in all areas of fertility nursing at the Herts &Essex and she is currently undergoing full ultrasound scanning training.

Jackie qualified as a registered general nurse in 1995 from Glasgow Caledonian University with a BA (Hons) degree in Nursing Studies. Prior to working in the field of fertility she worked in both Glasgow and London in various specialities but mainly surgical areas and intensive care. Before joining us in November 2014 to work part time as a fertility nurse coordinator in both recovery and clinic areas, Jackie worked part time at Assisted Reproduction and Gynaecology Clinic in London.

Tracey completed her B. Nursing degree with distinction in South Africa in 1991. She has broad nursing experience since starting her career as a midwife in Johannesburg. With a special interest in Women’s Health, Tracey has worked in a variety of private and NHS roles, as well as spending six years working in the pharmaceutical industry. She gained her Fertility experience at St Barts in London and is happy to work in all aspects of Fertility care. She joined our unit in September 2015 and works part time.

Jo qualified as a general adult nurse in 2005 and worked for two years on the male surgical ward at Whipps Cross University Hospital. We first met Jo when she joined Holly House Hospital as a senior staff nurse where, during her two years there, she occasionally nursed our IVF patients. Being an already very familiar face to our Nursing team, we were delighted when she joined us as a fertility nurse coordinator in May 2015. Jo also has experience of General Practice, working for six years at a local GP surgery, where she was responsible for many aspects of women’s health including smear tests, sexual health screening and contraception, and childhood immunisations.

Nicola has been with us since 2006, using her exceptional organisational skills as our IVF Laboratory Administrator. She feels that the highlight of her career has been this opportunity to work towards qualification as a Healthcare Assistant and Phlebotomist (taking blood), as it enables her to enjoy increased patient interaction.

We first met Joan when she worked at our first home, Holly House Hospital where she worked on the wards and clearly enjoyed looking after our IVF patients. Joan joined our staff in January 2008 as a Healthcare Assistant in Theatre and Recovery, achieving an NVQ at Level 3, providing invaluable and cheerful support for our nursing team. She welcomes our patients into the Centre and cares for them throughout their recovery period.

Tina spent 20 years in the banking industry with Abbey National before joining our Centre in 2008. A very special member of our team, she was one of our successful IVF patients in 1999. Her 13-year-old son, Kian is a very talented footballer. Tina started initially in Administration however, her caring nature and love for patients saw a transfer to Theatre &Recovery in 2011 where she enjoys supporting and caring for our patients as they go through their treatment. Tina is a qualified Healthcare Assistant with QCF Level 3 Diploma in Perioperative Support.
