Nicola Townsend BMedSc
Nicola gained her degree in Medical Sciences from the University of Birmingham, and joined the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre in 2006 after achieving her ACE certificate in Clinical Embryology at Homerton Hospital. She is an ICSI practitioner, a state registered Clinical Scientist with a diploma in Clinical Embryology from the Royal College of Pathologists, a first author on two scientific papers and is a member of the Institute of Biomedical Science. Besides sharing responsibility as one of our Laboratory Managers and undertaking all aspects of clinical embryology work, Nicola is our Internal Auditor and is in charge of quality control, equipment and staff training.
Lynne Glover MSc
Deputy Laboratory Manager
Lynne, besides being one of our Laboratory Managers is also our Donor Sperm Co-ordinator. A state registered Clinical Scientist, she gained her MSc in Human Reproductive Biology at Imperial College in London, has the ACE Certificate in Clinical Embryology and since 2005 has held her ICSI Practitioner Licence. She is co-author of a number of respected published embryology papers. Since joining in 2006, Lynne has helped hundreds of patients successfully start families at the Herts & Essex Fertility Centre.2
Dr Lucy Richardson BSc PhD
Senior Clinical Embryologist
Lucy’s career began with an illustrious First Class degree in Anatomy and Developmental Biology from University College London in 2003, receiving the highest degree mark for that year. She won a BBSRC studentship to study for her PhD in Embryology at The University of Cambridge’s Wellcome Trust/Cancer Research UK Gurdon Institute, where she investigated the origins of embryonic axis formation. One of her discoveries resulted in several scientific papers and presentations at national and international medical conferences. She continued her training at The Bridge Centre in London and at BMI Chelsfield Park Hospital, gaining her HFEA ICSI Licence and ACE Certificate. Lucy is registered with the Health and Care Professionals Council as a Clinical Scientist, and has a keen interest in the development of methods to treat male factor infertility.
Stephanie Engley BSc
Stephanie has been part of our embryology team since February 2012. She helps the embryologists with a variety of day-to-day duties in the lab. She joined us from Royal Surrey County Hospital, where she worked as a medical laboratory assistant in histology. She graduated with a First Class Honours degree in Human Biology from Kingston University.
